Former hostage Ofer Calderon was greeted by his longtime friends, members of 'The Smurfs' cycling group, upon his arrival at the hospital in Israel. The group had dedicated their rides to his safe return during his 15-month captivity. The group, active for over a decade, consists of 30-40 members who ride together every Friday. They have been deeply affected by the loss of one of their members, Oren Goldin, who was murdered during Calderon's abduction. The group stayed connected with Calderon's family and held a memorial ride for him. Calderon's return brought a sense of relief and renewal to the group.
