Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the WTO, Saqer bin Abdullah Al-Moqbel, has been appointed as the president of the WTO General Council for the 2025-2026 term. This marks a significant milestone as he becomes the first Arab and Middle Eastern delegate to hold this position. Al-Moqbel's presidency will focus on addressing critical global trade issues, preparing for the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference, advancing essential reforms, and progressing negotiations on the Fisheries Subsidy Agreement.
