Syrian Jews hope for revival of ancient heritage

Syria's Jewish community is hoping to revive their ancient heritage after the ouster of Bashar Assad. A small number of Jews recently held a group prayer in Damascus for the first time in over three decades. The community, which was permitted to practice their faith under Assad's father, has recently welcomed back Syrian Jews who had emigrated. The community is hoping to expand ties between the remaining Jews in Syria and those living abroad to revive their shared heritage and restore places of worship and other properties.
