President Donald Trump has fired Air Force Gen. CQ Brown Jr. as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, sidelining a respected officer who supported diversity and equity in the military. Brown, the second Black general to serve as chairman, had publicly supported Black Lives Matter. Trump has nominated retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Dan 'Razin' Caine to be the next chairman, citing his role in the annihilation of the ISIS caliphate. Trump also fired Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti and Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Jim Slife, and more firings are expected.
