Avera Mengistu, who was held captive by Hamas for nearly 11 years, has been released and returned to Israel as part of a cease-fire and hostage release deal. His family and friends endured a difficult ordeal, with threats to keep him in Gaza if they spoke out. Mengistu's release comes after a video clip in 2023 where he questioned why Israel had not acted to secure his freedom.
