Former prime minister Ehud Olmert has revealed the map for a two-state solution that he showed to Mahmoud Abbas in 2008, urging him to sign it. Olmert's proposal included annexing 4.9 percent of the West Bank to Israel and dividing Jerusalem. Abbas declined to sign the map and the follow-up meeting never took place. Some analysts suggest Abbas backed out because he believed Olmert did not have the political clout to see the deal through.
