Israel's military has appointed Brig. General Effie Defrin as the new IDF spokesperson, replacing Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari. Hagari had decided to leave the army after being refused a promotion by the new chief of staff. Defrin, a tank battalion commander, fought in the Second Lebanon War and has served in key roles, including head of the International Cooperation Division.
