Netanyahu tried to cajole Shin Bet head to quit during 'tense' meeting - report

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pressured Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar to resign during a meeting last week, but Bar refused to step down. Tensions between Netanyahu and Bar have been escalating, with the prime minister removing Bar from heading the team negotiating the Gaza truce-hostage deal. The Israeli government's hostage point man and a senior Shin Bet official will now head the delegation to Qatar. Efforts to dismiss Bar would require legal review by the attorney general.
