King Abdullah of Jordan hosted a Ramadan iftar in Amman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and religious and political figures from Jerusalem. The director of the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs department praised Jordanian support for enabling charitable projects to help Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem. Jordan is the custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and has a historical responsibility to protect them. Various religious leaders and officials also thanked King Abdullah for his support of Palestinian causes.
