Gaza's civil defense agency has exhumed 48 bodies from the ruins of Al-Shifa Hospital, once Gaza's largest medical facility, following multiple Israeli assaults during the war. The agency has returned identified bodies to their families for reburial and handed over 10 bodies to the forensic department for identification. Around 160 bodies remain buried within the hospital complex, and the exhumation process will continue. Hospitals in Gaza, including Al-Shifa, have been targeted by Israeli forces in the past, and last year, mass graves were discovered near hospitals. The war resulted in the deaths of 1,218 people on the Israeli side and at least 48,524 people in Gaza.
