Lydia Mugambe, a judge for the United Nations, has been found guilty on multiple charges relating to keeping a Ugandan woman as a domestic slave while studying at the University of Oxford. Mugambe is expected to be sentenced on May 2. Prosecutors stated that Mugambe took advantage of her status to force the woman to work for her as a maid. The scandal also involved the Ugandan High Commission. Mugambe claimed diplomatic immunity, but the United Nations has waived any immunity she may have had.
