A senior reserves officer in the Israel Defense Forces has been dismissed from reserve duty after losing classified documents in a parking lot. The officer, Brig. Gen. (res.) Erez Winner, took the documents from the Southern Command and dropped them while getting out of his car. The incident is being described as a severe operational security violation. Winner's dismissal was supported by the new IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. This is not the first time Winner has been involved in a scandal, as he was previously accused of leaking information to a government minister and of defaming IDF officials and senior politicians.
