Detained pro-Palestinian activist's case moved to new US court

A judge moved the legal case of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil to a new court in New Jersey, rather than the conservative jurisdiction sought by the Trump administration. Khalil, a prominent face of the protest movement against Israel's conduct of the war in Gaza, was arrested and taken to Louisiana earlier this month. The government has not accused Khalil of breaking any laws, but is revoking his permanent residency over his involvement in the protests. The decision to move the case was made on the grounds of jurisdiction and the need for careful judicial review.
