Opposition parties and civil society organizations have petitioned the High Court of Justice to intervene in the firing of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar. The petitions cite a conflict of interest on the part of the prime minister and the ongoing investigation into ties between Netanyahu's aides and the Qatari government. The Movement for Quality Government in Israel has called for an urgent injunction to freeze the decision. This is the first time in Israeli history that the head of the domestic security agency has been fired by the government.
