Outrage grows as convicted Paris synagogue bomber lives free

Jewish advocacy organizations are outraged that Hassan Diab, the man convicted for the 1980 bombing outside a Paris synagogue, continues to live freely in Canada. The government of former prime minister Justin Trudeau refused to extradite Diab to France, but a change of government could change his fate. Diab, who has consistently claimed innocence, was extradited to France in 2014 but returned to Canada in 2018 when the charges were dropped. He was convicted in absentia in April 2023 and sentenced to life in prison. Jewish groups are calling for Diab to be extradited to France to serve his sentence.
