Researchers are conducting an autopsy and DNA testing on the corpse of an adult seal that washed ashore in northern Israel to determine if it is Julia, a Mediterranean monk seal. Julia gained attention a few years ago when she came up on the beach in central Jaffa. The Mediterranean monk seal is an endangered species with only 600-700 left in the world.
