The late head of the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council, Ofir Libstein, had a vision for a tourist trail in the Negev Desert that would tell the story of Jewish settlement in the region. The trail, which runs along a pipeline that was laid in 1947, was opened in September 2023, but Libstein was tragically murdered just ten days later. In honor of his memory, a memorial site has been created at Kfar Aza, the 15th station on the trail. The memorial features a stylized pipe, benches, and a pathway, and includes the names of the 64 victims of the October 7 attack on Kfar Aza. The site also includes a metal map of Kfar Aza, with a view of the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City.
