High Court sets April 8 date to hear petitions against Shin Bet chief's dismissal

The High Court of Justice has set April 8 as the date to hear petitions against the government's decision to fire Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar. The panel hearing the petitions consists of Supreme Court President Isaac Amit, incoming Deputy Supreme Court President Noam Sohlberg, and Justice Daphne Barak-Erez. A temporary injunction against Bar's dismissal has already been issued by the court. The selection of Amit to sit on the panel has caused complications due to the refusal of some members of the right-wing governing coalition to recognize him as chief justice.
