Jeffrey Klein, Mother Jones co-founder led by Jewish values, dies at 77

Jeffrey Klein, co-founder of Mother Jones magazine, has died at the age of 77. While he rarely wrote about his own Jewish identity, his sons revealed that Jewish values underlay his journalism. Klein's work often focused on investigating and exposing corruption in corporate America and Washington. He was also known for his deeply reported story on Jewish refuseniks in the Soviet Union, which led to the confiscation of Mother Jones copies by Soviet authorities. Klein played an instrumental role in bringing Mother Jones into the digital age before resigning in 1998.
