A bipartisan group of US lawmakers have reintroduced legislation to officially sanction the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), Gaza's third-largest terror group, after their direct involvement in the October 7 attacks in Israel. The proposed legislation, called the Accountability for Terrorist Perpetrators of October 7 Act, would deem the PRC as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) group, imposing criminal penalties, financial sanctions, and visa restrictions for those connected to the group. Lawmakers emphasize the need to hold the PRC accountable for their history of violent attacks against Israelis, Americans, and Palestinians.
