Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt accuses Israel of exploiting the Druze community in Syria as part of a plan to divide the Middle East along sectarian lines. Jumblatt claims that Israel wants to break up the region into confessional entities and extend chaos. Israel has been making overtures towards Syria's Druze community since the ousting of Bashar Assad. The Druze faith has followers in Israel, Lebanon, and Syria, and they account for about three percent of Syria's population. Jumblatt hopes that any new division of Syria can be avoided and appeals to Arab leaders to support interim President Ahmed Al-Sharaa.
