Alabama lawyer: Arrested Iranian student was allowed to stay in US, didn't participate in campus 'anti-government protests'

An Iranian doctoral student at the University of Alabama was arrested by immigration agents, despite being allowed to stay in the US and not participating in anti-government protests. His visa was revoked in 2023, but the reason is unknown. The Department of Homeland Security claims he posed national security concerns, but no specific allegations have been made. The student has an immigration hearing in April.
