Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has chosen former navy commander Eli Sharvit as the new head of the domestic security agency, despite the supreme court freezing the dismissal of the incumbent. Sharvit, who served in the military for 36 years, including five years as navy commander, will lead the force building of the maritime defense of the territorial waters and conduct operations against Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. The court has suspended the government's dismissal of the previous agency chief until appeals are presented before April 8.
