French politician Marine Le Pen and eight other members of her right-wing party have been found guilty of embezzling public funds and she has been barred from running for public office. The French court has not yet announced how long she will be ineligible for office. Le Pen, a top candidate for the 2027 presidential election, has argued that this sentence would disenfranchise her voters. The case relates to the spending of funds from the European Parliament to support aspects of her party.
