Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee chairman Simcha Rothman published a mock bill proposing an 'annual memorial day' to commemorate democracy in Israel, as an April Fools Day joke. The bill called for citizens to mark the day when the law was passed that changed the composition of the Judicial Selection Committee. Rothman's post referred to controversial issues, including the government's move to fire the head of the Shin Bet and legislation to increase political power over the panel. Another lawmaker also made a jest on social media, submitting a bill to extend the government term from four to six years.
