The former Taliban ambassador to Spain, Mohammad Rahim Wahidi, was detained by U.S. immigration officials upon entering the United States. His release was denied by a federal judge, and he remains in custody. The Trump administration has been using similar legal justifications to cancel visas and detain and deport students involved in pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Mr. Wahidi's case is different as his brother-in-law is wanted by the U.S. in connection with a plot to assassinate an Iranian journalist. He was detained for over 30 hours without access to a lawyer and interrogated by unidentified officers.
