Former IDF Southern Command chief Sami Turgeman is reportedly being considered for the position of Shin Bet chief, according to Hebrew media reports. However, an official from the Prime Minister's Office denies these reports. Turgeman previously led the Southern Command during the 2014 Operation Protective Edge against Hamas in Gaza. He is currently the CEO of Noga, an independent company that manages Israel's electric system. This comes after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backtracked on his decision to appoint Vice Adm. (res.) Eli Sharvit as the next head of the Shin Bet.
