The Lebanese army has expanded its presence in areas along the Litani River in southern Lebanon following the launch of rockets towards Israel and retaliatory Israeli airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut. The army entered Yohmor Chkeif, a village surrounded by the river, and patrolled the area. The army also entered Hezbollah military sites in Wadi Zawtar Al-Charqiyeh. The move effectively marks the end of Hezbollah's military presence in the area. The army seized empty rocket launchers used to target Israel and is investigating the identity of those responsible. Tensions have risen following an Israeli strike in Beirut's southern suburbs that killed a Hezbollah member and civilians.
