PM, government say petitions against firing of Shin Bet chief 'nonsense'

The prime minister and the government dismiss petitions against the firing of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar as 'nonsense' and lacking legal foundation, according to their response to the High Court of Justice. Attorney Zion Amir, serving as independent counsel for the respondents, argues that the petitions are an attempt to undermine the government's authority and the security of the State of Israel. The petitioners argue that the decision to fire Bar was political and tainted by a conflict of interest for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
