Leaders Flex Muscles Against International Criminal Court

Hungary's prime minister, Viktor Orban, invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit the country after an arrest warrant was issued by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip. Orban announced Hungary's withdrawal from the court upon Netanyahu's arrival. This move by Orban is seen as a signal to the world that Hungary does what it wants, and a desire to sideline independent judges both domestically and internationally. The defiance of the court by Orban, Netanyahu, and US President Donald Trump is part of a larger power struggle between leaders and judges in various countries.
