Israel's El Al Airlines, which became dominant in the country's aviation sector during 18 months of war, now faces the return of foreign carriers as flights to Israel resume after a ceasefire deal with Hamas. El Al hopes to sustain its position by appealing to customers as 'the Spirit of Israel' and plans to receive more aircraft. However, it may take time to earn the trust of travellers fearful of cancellations if the ceasefire collapses. During the war, El Al was accused of price-gouging, but the airline defended itself, citing a shortage of aircraft and supply chain delays. Despite the challenges, El Al's net profit for 2024 jumped nearly five-fold to $545 million on a 37% rise in revenue to $3.4 billion.
