Spain's public broadcaster, RTVE, has called for a 'debate' over Israel's participation in this year's Eurovision Song Contest due to concerns over the situation in war-torn Gaza. RTVE has sent a letter to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) requesting a debate on the participation of Israeli public television (KAN) in the contest. The absence of KAN would mean no Israeli performer at the event. Spain has been one of the most anti-Israel countries in Europe since the 2023 Hamas attack against Israel. Finland's public broadcaster also received petitions to ban Israel from the contest due to the war in Gaza.
