Immigration judge denies bond for Turkish US grad student, held for anti-Israel activism

An immigration judge has denied bond for a Turkish graduate student at Tufts University who has been detained for three weeks in Louisiana. The student's lawyers claim that her detention is in retaliation for an anti-Israel op-ed she co-wrote. The lawyers have filed a request with a federal judge in Vermont to take jurisdiction of the case. The Department of Homeland Security presented a State Department memo revoking the student's visa as evidence against her bond request. The student's lawyers argue that her detention violates her constitutional rights.
