The Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Library in Bihar, India, holds over 21,000 rare and old manuscripts, with half of them in Arabic. The library was founded in the late-19th century by Khan Bahadur Khuda Bakhsh, who expanded his father's collection of Arabic and Persian manuscripts. The collection includes works on science, history, medicine, and Islamic studies, with some manuscripts dating back to the 11th century. The library is currently being digitized, but research work still primarily takes place in the reading rooms.
