Israel said asking US not to indict Oct. 7 terrorists before it, readying law changes to make mega-trial simpler

Israel has asked the US not to indict the Palestinian terrorists involved in the October 7, 2023, attack before Israel does, in order to avoid embarrassment. The US is close to completing its own probe and is expected to file charges soon. The report also states that charge sheets have been prepared against 22 terrorists, but they will likely be part of a larger mega-indictment. It is unclear whether the indictment will be split into multiple court cases. Israel regards around 300 Palestinian detainees as being involved in the attack, but no decision has been made on whether they will be prosecuted or released in a deal. Prosecutors have requested changes to Israel's criminal law system to facilitate the historic mega-trial.
