Only two congressional representatives have addressed the incident so far. Senator Gary Peters responded through an unnamed aide, condemning the attack and all violence based on hate. Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senator Debbie Stabenow, and several other representatives have not commented on the incident. The attack is being investigated as a hate crime.
