Uni's humbling apology amid fears of violent on-campus outbreak

The vice-chancellor of the University of Sydney has apologized for the anti-Semitism experienced by Jewish staff, students, and alumni during a pro-Palestinian encampment protest. The encampments flooded the university's quadrangle for eight weeks before being ordered to evacuate. The vice-chancellor admitted that the university's response did not meet the expectations of the community and vowed to win back the trust and confidence of the university's Jewish community. The university has now banned encampments and initiated an independent review of relevant policies and processes.
