The raid is part of a long-standing tense relationship between the Qatari-owned broadcaster and the Israeli government. Al Jazeera has been one of the few news outlets able to cover the war in Gaza due to foreign journalists being banned from entering the strip. Israel has accused the network of being a terrorist mouthpiece, while Al Jazeera denies these claims.
