In a year of war between Israel and Hamas, the people of Gaza have lost nearly everything: their loved ones, their homes, their careers and their dreams. AFP spoke to a student, a paramedic and a former civil servant in Gaza, to hear how the conflict has destroyed their lives. The student, Fares al-Farra, had to flee his home and his dreams of an education have been shattered. Maha Wafi, a paramedic, has had to face the hardships of war alone while worrying for her arrested husband. Maher Zino, a former civil servant, has been displaced multiple times and has become a beggar to provide for his family.
