U.S. President Joe Biden has recognized the United Arab Emirates as a major defense partner of the United States. The recognition came after Biden met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and was outlined in a joint statement. The statement also called for support for a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza, as well as the preservation of the historic status quo of Jerusalem's holy sites in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
