9 out of 12 High Court presidency candidates withdraw from race

Nine out of twelve candidates for the position of Supreme Court President have withdrawn their nominations after Justice Minister Yariv Levin nominated all the judges for the presidency. Levin stated that this appointment procedure should not take place during a controversial time of a sovereignty war. He also called for the public to send objections to the appointment of each candidate. Levin obeyed the High Court's ruling but criticized the court and broke the seniority system by nominating Yosef Elron instead of Yitzhak Amit for the presidency.
