An 81-year-old model named Choi Soon-hwa participated in the Miss Universe Korea pageant in an attempt to become the world's oldest Miss Universe contestant. She strutted across the stage in a beaded white gown and performed in a singing contest. Although she did not win the crown, she was given the 'best dresser' award. The winner of the contest, Han Ariel, will compete in the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City in November. Ms Choi, who worked in hospital care before starting her modelling career in her 70s, wanted to inspire others to pursue their dreams and find joy in life.
