Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in an unplanned operation by the IDF in Tel Sultan in Rafah. No hostages were killed during the operation. Sinwar's body was identified through dental and fingerprint records. The IDF and Shin Bet put out a joint statement confirming the death of Sinwar.
