Minister-without-portfolio Gideon Sa'ar has requested that the Interior Minister grant citizenship to the family members of fallen soldier Elishai Young, who was a member of the African Hebrew Israelites community and reportedly not an Israeli citizen. Sa'ar cited a previous decision he made during his tenure as Interior Minister that allowed community members who serve in the IDF and their families to apply for citizenship after 41 months of service. Since Young fell before completing 41 months, Sa'ar believes it is fair to grant citizenship to his family members.
