Seven People Planned to Carry Out Assassinations in Israel on Behalf of Iran

Israeli authorities have arrested seven residents of East Jerusalem who planned to assassinate a senior Israeli scientist and the mayor of a large Israeli city on behalf of Iran. The suspects, residents of Israel, were from the predominantly Arab neighborhood of Beit Safafa. They had taken photographs of the scientist's house in preparation for the assassination attempt and also planned to blow up a police vehicle and throw a grenade at a house. The suspects were recruited by a 23-year-old Israeli citizen and were directed to spray graffiti, set fire to cars, and gather intelligence. This comes after the dismantling of a different spy network made up of seven Jewish Israelis gathering intelligence for Iran.
