German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has urged the launch of a political process for Lebanon and the country's freedom from foreign influence in a phone call with Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Scholz expressed condolences for the suffering of the Lebanese people. Germany has pledged an additional 60 million euros ($64 million) to assist Lebanon.
