Sgt. Hillel Ovadia, a graduate of a military preparatory Yeshiva, was praised after falling in combat in Gaza. He and two other IDF soldiers were killed when their tank ran over an IED near the Kamal Adwan Hospital. Rabbis and students from the Yeshiva paid tribute to Hillel, describing him as kind, gentle, and a true scholar. The soldiers were supposed to secure civilian evacuation routes out of the hospital.
