Israel has multi-layered air defences against attacks by regional adversaries such as Iran, including the Arrow, David's Sling, and Iron Dome missile defence systems. The Arrow interceptors engage threats both in and outside the atmosphere, while David's Sling is designed to shoot down ballistic missiles. Iron Dome, originally built to intercept rockets fired by Hamas, provides city-sized coverage against various threats. Israel is also developing a laser-based system for interception. The U.S. has sent the THAAD system to Israel to support its air defences.
