National Insurance hike to hit low income earners hardest

The Finance Ministry has added higher National Insurance contributions to the 2025 budget, which will mainly affect low-income earners. The plan includes an increase in National Insurance contributions for employees, the self-employed, and the unemployed, resulting in additional payments of over NIS 1,400 per year. Working couples and families will face even higher amounts. The plan also links National Insurance payments to the Consumer Price Index, benefiting those with low incomes. However, students and haredi yeshiva students will be least affected by the increase.
