Large groups of youths in Edinburgh have been throwing fireworks, bricks, and bottles at police during Bonfire Night, causing disorder across the city. Riot police have been deployed, and footage shows fireworks being lit and exploded around them. Extra stop and search powers were given to police in certain areas due to intelligence about planned disorder. A helicopter was also deployed as part of Operation Moonbeam to support local police. Scotland's first fireworks control zones are in place in parts of Edinburgh and Glasgow, with fines of up to £5,000 and up to six months in jail for those convicted of setting off a firework within the zones.
